MONTGOMERY, Ala.--- The Alabama A&M men's basketball team (2-16, 2-3 SWAC) trailed by as many as 22 points in the first half, but put together a tremendous second half comeback effort before falling late to Alabama State, 70-67, on Saturday evening at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

De'Ederick Petty lead the Bulldogs with 13 points and added four rebounds. Arthur Johnson contributed 12 points and pulled down six boards, while Jalen Reeder recorded 10 points and five boards. Evan Wiley had a team-high seven rebounds and grabbed six points.

The Bulldogs shot 28 percent from the floor while the Hornets were 17-of-34 (50.0 %) in the first half.

SECOND HALF
Wiley scored the half's opening two points as the Bulldogs went on a 11-6 run to make it a 15-point ballgame. Trailing 11 points with under-eight minutes remaining in the game, Reeder knocked a three-pointer down to bring AAMU within eight, 59-51.

Mohamed Sherif's layup at 4:28 on the clock and moments later, mid-range jumper from Reeder, cut the Hornets lead to four with 3:53 remaining in the game.

Coming out of the under-5 media timeout, Alabama State turned the ball over, which allowed Julian Walters to steal and make a layup in the paint to bring the Bulldogs within two. Walters was then fouled with 2:42 remaining and went 2-for-2 from the free throw line to tie the game at 65.

The lead would change two more times before the Hornets regained the lead, 68-67, off of two free throws. A Bulldogs foul would send Alabama State to the free throw line with 18 seconds on the clock. The Hornets would make one free throw to take a 69-67 lead.

After the timeout, Johnson's attempt at a three-pointer was unsuccessful and Alabama State secured two more from the charity stripe to win the game by three points.
