Lipscomb rides strong second half to top Alabama A&M women's basketball

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Emily Kmec poured in 17 points as Lipscomb topped Alabama A&M 62-58 Thursday night in a women's college basketball game.

Kmec made five 3-pointers, sparking a second-half surge where Lipscomb (2-1) overcame a six-point halftime deficit.

Alabama A&M (1-2) led 31-25 at halftime, but Lipscomb outscored the Bulldogs 18-11 in the third period.

Alabama A&M struggled from the perimeter, making 7 of 32 attempts from beyond the 3-point arc. The Bulldogs shot just 31.9 percent from the floor, in spite of winning the rebounding battle 48-33 — and 23-6 on the offensive boards.

Carnethia Brown and DeShawna Harper each led Alabama A&M with 12 points.
