Men’s Basketball Falls to Alcorn State, 80-60

HUNTSVILLE--- The Alabama A&M men's basketball team fell to Alcorn State,80-60, on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs return to action on Monday when they host Southern in a Southwestern Athletic Conference contest.
 
Tracy Burnett led AAMU with 15 points and four rebounds. Arthur Johnson and Jalen Reeder each finished in double-figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
 
After the Braves took an early 13-8 lead, Evan Wiley netted a three-pointer followed by a layup from Julian Walters to give the Bulldogs a 14-13 lead with 14:11 on the clock. Alcorn tied the game at 14 before Alabama A&M went on an 8-2 run to extend their lead, 21-16. The Braves went on a 11-0 run to gain a 27-22 lead. The teams would continue to battle as they seen two ties before the Bulldogs took a 40-39 lead into the locker room.

Alabama A&M extended their lead by three four minutes into the second half. Alcorn regained control of the game after a 15-2 run to give them double-digit lead, 61-49, with 9:22 remaining in the game. Reeder connected on a three-pointer to cut the deficit down to nine, but the Braves wouldn't surrender the lead the rest of the game.

Alcorn saw four players in double-digit scoring, which was led by Maurice Howard who had a game-high 22 points. A.J. Mosby (20), Yalen Reed (15) and Troymain Crosby (12) also scored in double digits. Crosby grabbed 11 rebounds for the Braves.
