Lady Bulldogs Topped by Texas Southern

HOUSTON, TX--- The Alabama A&M women's basketball offense was stifled by Texas Southern's defense on Saturday, as the squad was to held under 30-percent shooting from the field, as the Lady Bulldogs fell to the Lady Tigers, 60-43, in Houston, TX.

With the loss the Maroon and White fall to 10-16 overall and 5-10 in the SWAC, while Texas Southern improves to 16-10 overall and 11-4 in league play.

Tied at 39 at the end of the third quarter, Texas Southern used a 13-2 run in the fourth quarter to stake claim to a 52-41 lead with four minutes remaining to play to take control of the contest.

Natalie Collins and Ashlyn Dotson scored nine points apiece to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Nigeria Jones and Aubriana Bonner each pulled down six boards in the contest.

Texas Southern was led by Joyce Kennerson, who scored a game-high 31 points.

The Lady Bulldogs will close out their road schedule on Monday, Feb. 26 as they face Prairie View A&M.
