Baseball Falls to Morehead State in Series Finale, 7-1

HUNTSVILLE—Alabama A&M baseball team concluded a three-game series against Morehead State with a 7-1 loss to the visiting Eagles Sunday afternoon at Bulldog Field.

After dropping game two and game three contest, Alabama A&M fell to 3-4 overall, while Morehead moved to 5-3.

In game two on Saturday, the visitors scored an unearned run in the top of the first before a two-RBI double in the seventh to open a 3-0 lead. The Eagles then tacked on two more in the ninth to secure the win.

In game three, both teams were held scoreless in the first inning, before Morehead opened the second inning with a solo home run to get on the board. The Eagles plated five more runs in the inning on a single, a wild pitch and a two-run homer to push its lead to 6-0.

Wilanier Betancourt scored the Bulldog's lone run in the bottom of the second inning, as he was driven home by Richard Polinsky's (2-for-3, 1 RBI) double to left field.

The Eagles added an insurance run in the seventh to clinch the series win.

Freshman Jose Figueroa suffered the loss (0-1) for the Bulldogs, allowing seven runs on nine hits and three strikeouts in 8.0 innings.  

Alabama A&M will travel to Columbus, MO to face the University of Missouri on Feb. 27 and Feb. 28.
