Softball Blanks South Carolina State, 4-0

HUNTSVILLE –  The Alabama A&M softball team defeated South Carolina State, 4-0, Saturday afternoon at the HBCU Tournament in Acworth, GA. The remaining games were canceled due to rain.
 
Both teams were held scoreless in the first inning before a Lauren Walker RBI sacrifice fly to left field and a wild pitch in the bottom of the second, gave the Lady Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage.
 
AAMU third baseman Ariel Smith homered in the fourth inning, giving Alabama A&M a 3-0 lead. A wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth allowed Walker to score and make it a 4-0 game.
 
Alabama A&M's Smith went 1-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored, one homerun and one RBI.
 
Lauren Hayden (3-1) finished with seven strikeouts and two hits in seven complete innings to claim her third win of the season.
 
The Lady Bulldogs are back in action on Friday when they host Prairie View A&M for a three-game series.
