Baseball Comeback Falls Short to Alcorn State in Series Finale, 5-4

HUNTSVILLE, Al – The Alabama A&M University baseball team dropped a 5-4 decision to Alcorn State Saturday in the series finale at Bulldog Field.

Carson McGregory scored AAMU's first run after Joannes Diaz grounded into double play in the bottom of the second inning.

Down, 5-1, entering its at-bat in the ninth inning, the Bulldogs started the inning off with a pair of walks. Carl Parker then singled to left field advancing Brandon Moore to second and scoring Raymond Santiago.

After Alcorn's Razedrick Winters relieved Bukhari Brown on the mound, Jonathan Smith II reached on a fielding error by second base, advancing Parker and Moore. With zero outs, JT O'Reel hit into double play as Parker scored to cut the Braves deficit to 5-4. A fly out to center would bring the game to a close to give Alcorn State the victory.

O'Reel and McGregory led the Bulldogs with two hits a piece on the day, while O'Reel, Parker and Carlton Peppers each picked up an RBI.
 
Jaret Britt was charged with the loss, allowing 10 hits and five runs, while striking out five in a complete nine innings.

Alabama A&M is next in action on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. contest at Auburn.
