AUBURN, Ala.--- Alabama A&M University fell 19-5 at Auburn University Tuesday evening.
Carlton Peppers was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI while Jonathan Smith II was 3-for-5 with a solo home run but the Bulldogs faced an uphill climb after falling behind early.
The Bulldogs scored their first run after a sacrifice fly from Ray Santiago in the top of the second that plated Carson McGregory. Down 4-1, Smith secured a solo home run in the third followed by a single from McGregory that scored Peppers to bring AAMU within one, 4-3.
Auburn quickly answered back with five runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 9-3 lead.
Peppers added the Bulldogs final two more runs in the top of the sixth after plating Brandon Moore and Santiago off a single through the left side, but the Tigers responded with four runs in each of its next two at-bats.
Elliott Anderson got the win for Auburn, after tossing 1.2 perfect innings of relief with a strikeout. Blaine Milam suffered the loss for the Bulldogs.
