Baseball Drops Three-Game Series to Jackson State

HUNTSVILLE--- The Alabama A&M University baseball team dropped a three-game series to Jackson State over the weekend in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, leaving the Bulldogs' overall record 3-9 and 0-3 in SWAC play. Jackson State improves to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the SWAC.
 
Game 1: Jackson State 8 Alabama A&M 0
 
Jackson State won Game 1 on Friday afternoon, 8-0.
 
The Tigers took the lead in the second inning, when Wesley Reyes reached base on a fielder's choice to drive in a run and make the score 1-0. 
 
The Tigers scored two runs in the fourth, and added another in the fifth, making the score 4-0 midway through the contest.
 
JSU added four runs late for the 8-0 final score.
 
The Bulldogs had five hits in the loss and Carson McGregory went 2 for 4 for AAMU in the loss.
 
Game 2: Jackson State 8, Alabama A&M 4
 
JSU secured game two with a 8-4 win over Alabama A&M.
 
The Tigers scored one run in the first, and five in the second to take a big lead early in the contest.  Casey Warner generated a run on a fielder's choice and the Tigers scored two runs on bases loaded walks in the inning.
 
The Bulldogs got back in the game in the fifth inning when Dalton Mitchel hit an RBI single to drive in one of the two runs for the Bulldogs to make the score 6-2.
 
Jackson State added two insurance runs, one in the eighth and one in the ninth, to end up winning by four runs.
 
Game 3: Jackson State 11, Alabama A&M 0

 The Tigers secured game three as they held the Bulldogs scoreless, 11-0, in seven innings.
 
Both teams were held scoreless in the first inning before a RBI double in the top of the second would give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
 
In the top of the third, Jackson State added eight runs off a 2 RBI homer, a triple and three singles.
 
Leading 9-0, JSU added two insurance runs after executing two sacrifice flies in the top of the fourth to take the three-game series.

The Bulldogs look to bounce back this weekend against Alabama State. The series opens Friday night at 2 p.m. at Bulldog Field.
