Big Seventh Inning Lifts Baseball Over Alcorn State, 8-4

LORMAN, Miss. – A five-run seventh inning lifted the Alabama A&M baseball team to an 8-4 win over Alcorn State on Saturday evening in Lorman, MS.

The Braves scored first in the bottom of the first inning off a wild pitch. The Bulldogs answered with two runs in the bottom of the second when a Jonathan Smith IIRBI single to left field drove Wilanier Betancourt. Smith then scored on a throwing error to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead.  JT O'Reel singled to right center in the bottom of the fifth before a Braves error, advanced O'Reel to second and Smith home.

AAMU then erupted for four runs in the top of the seventh inning to establish an 8-1 lead, which included a 2 RBI single from O'Reel, a RBI sacrifice fly from Dalton Mitchell and a 2 RBI double from Betancourt.

The home side trimmed the deficit in half, 8-4, with a three runs in the bottom of the seventh but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs secured the win.

Jaret Britt earned the start on the mound, throwing six innings and allowing four runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Blaine Milam surrendered two hits with two strikeouts in his three innings pitched.
