MONTGOMERY, Ala.--- Second-seeded Alabama A&M advanced to the winner's bracket and will face the winner of west first-seeded Texas Southern and east fourth-seeded Mississippi Valley tomorrow at 3:00 PM in the 2018 Southwestern Athletic Conference Softball Tournament in Montgomery, Ala.

AAMU defeated west third-seeded Prairie View A&M, 5-3, in the opening game.

Prairie View struck first in the top of the first inning. The Lady Bulldogs got on board in the bottom of the second inning when Lauren Walker's 2 RBI double drove home Danielle Hansell and Madi Pozzi to take a 2-1 lead. The Lady Panthers would strike for a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game, 2-2. Tiana Sanders gave the Lady Bulldogs a 3-2 lead with a RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. Shortly thereafter, Prairie View would tie the game again with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh.

With the contest tied 3-3, Walker singled to right and motored to third after a misplay in the field. Two batters later, Kia Lang ripped a Lady Panther offering to the warning track to vault the Lady Bulldogs (22-19) to the next round.

Tiana Sanders was 2-for-3 with a RBI single. Lauren Hayden (11-4) collected the win with 2.2 innings of relief where she allowed two hits and one run.
