AAMU Volleyball Goes 5-0 at SWAC West Roundup

BATON ROUGE, La.---- The Alabama A&M women's volleyball team went 5-0 after completing a weekend sweep at the Southwestern Athletic Conference West Volleyball Roundup Sunday with a victory (25-18, 25-21, 25-16) over the Texas Southern in Baton Rouge, La.
 
Megan Evans led the way for the Lady Bulldogs against the Lady Tigers with 40 assists. Mine Centinoz contributed 24 digs and Jaelin Gant dished out eight digs and three aces.
 
Alana Cox posted 16 kills and four blocks. Terra Brooks contributed 10 kills and Maya Evans added nine.

After winning two matches Friday night against Southern University and Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the Lady Bulldogs opened Saturday's play with a 25-14, 25-13, 26-24 victory over Grambling.

Maya Evans paced the offense with 11 kills, Terra Brooks added seven kills and Megan Evans dished out 27 assists. Gant posted five kills and added in two blocks as Alabama A&M outhit Grambling .242-.059 in the match.

Defensively, Megan Evans, Gant and Brooks each led the way with seven digs as the Lady Bulldogs swept Grambling.

In its final match on Saturday, AAMU defeated Prairie View A&M with a 25-10, 25-17, 25-13 victory.

Cox led the offensive attack with 10 kills and she added two blocks to help power the Lady Bulldogs to a three-set win over the Lady Panthers

Megan Evans tallied 30 assists and nine digs, while Centinoz added 16 digs in the win.

UP NEXT
The Lady Bulldogs (9-12, 5-0 SWAC) return to action Friday, Sept. 30, when they travel to Lorman, Ms. to Alcorn State at 5 p.m.
