Alabama A&M Volleyball Defeats Jackson State for their Fourth Consecutive Conference Sweep

JACKSON, Miss. – The Alabama A&M volleyball team earned their fourth consecutive conference sweep with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-22, 25-19) sweep of Jackson State Monday night in Lee E. Williams Athletic & Assembly Center. The win pushed Alabama A&M to 11-11 on the season.

Senior Terra Brooks earned her fifth double-double on the year, finishing with 11 kills for the Bulldogs, while junior Maya Evans added six. Setter Megan Evans finished with a match-high 20 assists and 14 digs, to earn her seventh double-double on the year.

Defensively, Alabama A&M limited Jackson State to a .118 hitting percentage on the day. Sophomore libero Maci Battle put up another solid number in the back row with 10 digs. Senior Jaelin Gant added 6, and the Lady Bulldogs totaled seven blocks on the night as well.

SET ONE
After Jackson State scored the opening point, Alabama A&M scored four straight to take the lead early, of which they did not give back. After a set error by the Bulldogs to make the score 13-9, the Bulldogs went on to score ten unanswered, before eventually winning the set 25-10.

SET TWO
The second set was more balanced, as the Tigers of Jackson State came out to another early lead of 3-0, before Alabama A&M got on the board. After back and forth soring over the next few points, the Bulldogs created some separation to make the lead 15-12, and held on to the lead for the remainder for a set score of 25-22.

SET THREE
Jackson State got out to an early 4-0 lead once again in the final set, and held the lead for a majority of the set. After a kill pushed the Tigers lead to 14-8, the Bulldogs began a set of runs to eventually tie the game at 16, and then scored four unanswered to push the score to 20-18. The Bulldogs scored the final five points of the set to finalize the three set sweep.
