Huntsville, Ala. __ Alabama A&M soccer continues play this weekend as they host "Family Weekend" against two conference foes at Bulldog Soccer Field. The Lady Bulldogs will host Prairie View A&M on Friday, kick off scheduled for 3 p.m. and Texas Southern on Sunday scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time.

ALABAMA A&M NOTES
  • The Lady Bulldogs are 7-6-1 for the season with a 3-1 record in the SWAC, including four of their last five. This is the highest win total on a year under the helm of Coach Stephens.
  • Alabama A&M leads the SWAC in total points with 59 (3.93/game), second in goals (23) and fourth in assists (13) on the year.
  • Senior Iris Torres is coming off a career-high three goal game against xxx,
  • Freshman Makayla Rushing leads the team in scoring with seven goals. Rushing is currently first in the conference in shots on goals (20, 1.43/game) and goals (7) and third in points.
  • Freshmen Jameela Barrett (.176/game) and Jada Ward (.273/game) are both in the top three in the conference in assists with three apiece.
  • Freshman D'Essence Burnett and her six goals in 2019 places her third among SWAC peers in that category
  • Goalkeeper Jodi Medina is third in the conference and top-25 in the nation in saves with 78 total saves.
 
PRAIRIE VIEW A&M NOTES
  • Prairie View A&M is currently 5-7 overall and 4-1 in the conference
  • The Lady Panthers have been outscored 18-14 on the season, and are shooting at a clip of .362 on their shots on goal
  • Jojo Bernal currently leads the conference in shots per game, at 3.33 per contest
  • Diana Neff leads the team in points so far with ten, including five goals on the year, with one being a game winner.
  • Ashley Chala has accounted for seven points of her own, including three goals and an assist.
  • Goalkeeper Quinn Josiah has started eight games for Prairie View, playing just over 600 minutes and has 36 saves and an eighty percent save percentage. Alexis Espino has started four game in the goal, playing just over 400 minutes and has 30 saves of her own.
  • Prairie View A&M have won the last two contests between teams in the series. The Bulldogs last won on Oct. 23 2015 in Huntsville.
TEXAS SOUTHERN NOTES 
  • Texas Southern is currently 3-7 overall and 2-1 in the conference
  • The Lady Tigers have been out shot 104-204, and outscored 9-37 on the season.
  • Jada MaClean, Desiree Harte and Mia Marshall all share the lead for points and goals, all with four total points and two goals. MaClean leads the squad in shots with 23.
  • Cassie Sandoval currently leads the Tigers in the assist category with one.
  • Goalkeepers Salma Ghazal and Oriana Palacios have shared time in the goal this season, as Ghazal has played in ten games for just under 800 minutes. She had totaled 54 saves for a .621 save percentage.
UP NEXT
Following this weekend, the Lady Bulldogs will close out the season with the final two games of the regular season, with both being at Bulldog Field. Alabama A&M will host Howard on Friday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. and rival Alabama State on Friday, Nov. 1 scheduled for a 3 p.m. kick.
