HUNTSVILLE — The Alabama A&M women's soccer team has claimed one of the top four spots in the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament.

Alabama A&M scored two first-half goals to top in-state rival Alabama State 2-1 Friday afternoon to close out the regular season.

With the win, Alabama A&M (9-8-1, 7-3) claimed the fourth seed in the SWAC tournament, which begins next week.

Alabama State (5-14, 4-6) took an early lead on an Ashley Thomas goal.

Alabama A&M, however, rallied back before the break.

Braejah Washington tied the score in the 33^rd minute on an unassisted goal, and in the 41^st minute, D'Essence Burnett scored the go-ahead goal on a Camille Nurse assist.

Jodi Medina had 10 saves for Alabama A&M in goal. She faced 18 shots and 11 shots on goal.
