Lady Bulldogs Fall in Close Game at California Baptist

RIVERSIDE, Calif. __ Sophomore forward Dariauna Lewis turned in another double-double as she finished with 14 points and 17 rebounds as the Lady Bulldogs fell narrowly at California Baptist 60-55 on Saturday afternoon in the CBU Event Center.

Lewis finished the game shooting 5-of-12 from the field and grabbing eight offensive rebounds along with three blocks and three steals.

After a very slow start to the game where both teams struggled offensively, the Lady Bulldogs headed into the locker room leading 20-19. The third quarter proved to be the turning point of the game as the Lancers scored 19 points in the quarter, while holding the Lady Bulldogs to just eight and taking a 10-point lead into the final quarter of the game.

In the fourth, California Baptist stretched the lead to as many as 15, however the Bulldogs managed to fight back and pull within three points with 11 seconds left, but fell short after a pair of free throws would seal the game.

Junior DeShawna Harper was the only other double-digit scorer for Alabama A&M, as she finished with 10 points, two steals two rebounds.

  • Turnovers: A&M forced CBU into 23 turnovers, scoring 14 points off those errors, while the Lady Bulldogs turned it over 15 times. for 15 points off their turnovers.
  • Bench points: The Lancers bench outscored the Bulldogs bench 21-17.
