Southern tops Alabama A&M men's basketball

BATON ROUGE, La. — Sidney Umude poured in 18 points as Southern topped Alabama A&M 59-49 Saturday afternoon in a Southeastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game.

Southern (5-22, 4-10 in SWAC) raced out to an eight-point halftime lead and never looked back.

Richard Lee finished with 12 points for Southern.

Brandon Miller and Evan Wiley each led Alabama A&M (5-22, 4-9) with nine points, while Andre Kennedy and Gerron Scissum each scored eight.

Alabama A&M travels to Alcorn State on Monday.
