Febus delivers strong performance, AAMU baseball tops Bethune-Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Yavier Febus struck out six as Alabama A&M topped Bethune-Cookman 8-2 Tuesday night in a non-conference baseball game.

Alabama A&M (8-20) took the lead in the top of the third inning when Kyle Redmond pushed Richard Polinsky and Dillon Roop across the plate with a two-RBI single.

That was all the run support Febus needed.

Febus (1-1) held Bethune-Cookman (9-16) to three hits through seven innings to get the pitching win. He gave up one earned run.

Michael Hovermill and Fernando Diaz Jr. combined to hold Bethune-Cookman to three hits in two innings of relief.
Alabama A&M scored two runs in the fourth to extend its lead to 4-1 before adding one run in the eighth and three in the ninth.

Redmond led Alabama A&M at the plate with three hits and three RBIs, while Jonathan Smith II, Will Hampson, Roop and Raymond Santiago each added one hit and one RBI.

Alabama A&M plays at Bethune-Cookman today to close out the two-game series. The Bulldogs return on home on Friday to open a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series against Mississippi Valley State.
