Grambling holds off Lady Bulldogs late run

RUSTON, La. __ Shakyla Hill poured in 30 points and six assists as Grambling topped Alabama A&M Saturday afternoon in their Southwestern Athletic Conference women's basketball regular season finale.

The Tigers roared out to a strong lead in the first half on senior night, entering the locker room at halftime with a 33-18 lead.

Not much changed in the third, as Grambling took advantage of an Alabama A&M scoring drought that concluded the quarter with the Bulldogs trailing 55-33.

However, in the fourth period Alabama A&M climbed back into the game to pull within six, but the deficit was too large to overcome.

Takerra Parsons had a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Jazmin Boyd added 14 points as well.

Nigeria Jones paced Alabama A&M with 20 points and three assists, the only Bulldog in double figures.

Alabama A&M travels to Texas Southern on Tuesday for the first round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament.
