Lady Bulldogs sweep Alabama State on the road in huge conference series

MONTGOMERY __ After dominant wins on Friday and in game one of the doubleheader Saturday, the third and final contest was a tight one, going into extra innings. After a close contest, Madison Pozzi singled up the middle to score McHaliee Danner in the top of the 10th inning to score the winning run and close out the three-game series. 
 
A group of Lady Bulldogs had multiple hits in the game including Tamia Lee-Barbadillo (3-6, run scored), Danielle Hansell (2-5), Alyssa Lopez (2-3, two runs scored) and Tia Davis (2-5).
 
Alyssa Lopez started the game on the mound for the Bulldogs, giving up only nine hits in six innings. McHaliee Danner (3-2) picked up the decision in three innings with 13 batters faced. 
 
Skyler Sullivan pitched five innings for the Hornets before Charlene Castro (3-2) picked up the loss in relief.
 
In game one on Saturday the Lady Bulldogs came out strong, scoring the first nine runs of the ballgame. 
 
Shelby Scrivnor led the attack for Alabama A&M with three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Other Lady Bulldogs with multiple hits included Tia Davis with four and Jamia Kirk with two, with multiple players contributed scoring runs.
 
Lauren Hayden (7-7) allowed only five hits in five innings in the winning effort for Alabama A&M. McHaliee Danner picked up the save.
 
Justine Jean (8-8) pitched a complete game in a loss for Alabama State. 
 
The Lady Bulldogs (19-14, 8-4 in SWAC) will in action on the road again next weekend for a series against Mississippi Valley State starting April 19 at 4:30 central time.
