Mississippi Valley edges Lady Bulldogs in first game of weekend series

ITTA BENA, MS __ Alabama A&M Softball fell 3-1 on the road against Mississippi Valley on Friday in the first game of a three game conference series on Friday. 
 
The Lady Bulldogs (19-15, 8-5 SWAC) opened the scoring in the first on a RBI double by Alyssa Lopez. Mississippi Valley (6-29, 2-10 SWAC) responded in the second with a sacrifice fly by Sharia Cormier, and scored in the fifth and sixth innings to make the final 3-1. 
 
Lisabelle Hansell led Alabama A&M with one hit and a run scored. Hansell (7-5) also picked up the loss for the Lady Bulldogs. 
 
Alyssa Montes (4-11) picked up the win while only giving up three hits for the Delta Devils.
 
These two teams will continue the series on Saturday with a doubleheader scheduled for 1 and 3:30 pm.
