Lady Bulldogs find bats in game 2, advance to next round of SWAC Tourney

 
MONTGOMERY, Ala. __ The Lady Bulldogs found their bats in the second game of the day at Barbara Williams Complex in an elimination game against Prairie View. 
 
The Lady Braves started quickly and threatened early, loading the bases with two outs before Bulldog pitcher Lauren Hayden forced a fly ball to center for the third out. 
 
Braves threatened again in the third, as Brooke Roach doubled to deep center with a runner on first, however a great throw by center fielder Tia Davis got the runner out at the plate to save a run. Hayden struck out the next batter for the third out of the inning. 
 
Jamia Kirk registered the first hit for Alabama A&M in the bottom of the third on a single, however the Bulldogs hit into a double play the next at bat to end the inning.
 
A pair of throwing errors by Alcorn gave the Bulldogs some breathing room in the fourth inning, as two runs scored with two outs. Moments later, Madison Pozzi hit a two-run bomb to left field to extend the lead to 4-0 Bulldogs before the close of the inning.
 
After another loaded bases situation in the fifth, Hayden again maneuvered her way out of the inning scoreless by forcing two straight fly balls to end the inning. The Bulldogs also loaded the bases in the fifth but left three runners with a groundout to the first baseman. 
 
Ambria Dorsey (4-13) started and pitched four innings for the Lady Braves giving up five hits, while Paige Taylor came in as a reliever. 
 
Lauren Hayden (10-9) pitched a complete game in the win, where she surrendered six hits.
 
The Lady Bulldogs advance to the next round to play Texas Southern later today tentatively scheduled for 6 pm.
