STARKVILLE, Miss. ^__ MaKayla Waldner scored a pair of goals to lead Mississippi State over Alabama A&M 4-0 Thursday evening in an opening season contest.

For Mississippi State (1-0-0), Waldner scored the first goal in the 22nd minute, and again in the 55th.  Zakirah McGillivary added a goal in the 62nd minute, while Sam Stiglmair added the last goal for the 4-0 final.

For Alabama A&M (0-1-0), D'Essence Burnett and Arielle Fortune recorded shots on goal. Goalkeeper Jodi Medina finished with five saves.

The Lady Bulldogs will continue their opening three game road trip as they head to Atlanta to face Georgia State on Saturday, August 31 at 6 p.m. ET.
