Alabama A&M Volleyball Will Host Middle Tennessee in Home Opener

Fans Asked To Wear Maroon as the Bulldogs Host Tuesday Matchup

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. __ The Lady Bulldogs (4-6) will have their home opener Tuesday against Middle Tennessee in Elmore Gymnasium, scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off.

After an opening stretch of tournaments and road matchups, Alabama A&M Volleyball will finally host their home opener for Bulldog fans in Huntsville. The "Maroon Out" as it is scheduled, will be the first of five home matches to be held in Elmore.
 
A&M NOTES
  • Alana Cox (2.54 k/set) leads the Bulldogs in kills and is sixth overall in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
  • Alabama A&M also have three players averaging at least a pair of digs per set, including Maci Battle who is second in the conference (4.00/set), Megan Evans (2.38/set) and Jaelin Gant (2.35/set).
  • Megan Evans, coming off an All-Tournament nod in Wofford, leads the SWAC with 235 assists and 8.10 assists per set.
  • Alabama A&M currently leads the SWAC in hitting percentage (.226), total blocks (56.5) and blocks per set (1.95/set).
  • The Lady Bulldogs have two of the top three players in hitting percentage in the SWAC with Maya Evans (1st with .391) and Alana Cox (3rd with .384).
OPPONENT NOTES
  • The Blue Raiders are coming off a 2-1 showing over the weekend at the Evansville Dunn Hospitality Tournament where they defeated Eastern Illinois 3-1 and Purdue Fort Wayne 3-2. Middle Tennessee lost to host team Evansville 1-3 on Saturday.
  • Urte Neimantaite leads the squad in kills with 108 (3.18/set), Taylor Hammill leads in assists (287) and Bri Tankesley leads in digs (130).
  • In their last meeting in 2013, the Blue Raiders defeated the Bulldogs in three sets.
 
LAST MATCH
Alabama A&M fell to MEAC opponent North Carolina A&T in straight sets, 15-25, 15-25, 20-25 on Saturday in Spartansburg, South Carolina in the Wofford Tournament. Megan Evans led the Bulldogs with her second consecutive double-double with team-highs of 28 assists and 12 digs.
 
UP NEXT
The Lady Bulldogs will head back on the road to the Carolinas with road contests against South Carolina-Upstate, East Carolina and Gardner-Webb over the remainder of the week.
