HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – For the sixth time in program history, and first since 2012, Alabama A&M (9-7-1, 8-1-0 SWAC) women's soccer has earned a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) title, sharing regular season honors with Prairie View A&M (10-3-2, 8-1-0 SWAC) as announced by the league late on Saturday, October 30.
This marks nine years since the Bulldogs won the SWAC East Division in 2012 but it is not something new for the program. They have a rich championship history, claiming the first four east Division titles from a 2003-06 and the 2007 SWAC Tournament Championship and corresponding NCAA Tournament berth.
Alabama A&M captured a share of the title by winning eight SWAC games to equal the program record set in 2005 (8-0-1) and 2006 (8-0) and also produced eight shutouts overall. The latter ties the program mark established during the 2006 campaign.
The team from the Rocket City enters the 2021 SWAC Tournament on a six game win streak that dates back to October 3 and will head to Prairie View, Texas for a shot at the tournament title. That will take place from November 4-7 with the championship played at 11 a.m. the final day. Alabama A&M enters as the No. 2 seed by virtue of a head-to-head tiebreaker with PVAMU and will face No. 7 Southern 8 p.m. on the opening day.
Each Tournament game is scheduled to be carried on the SWAC Digital Network with live stats and a
