Alabama A&M Set to Take on Southern Miss and Florida Atlantic at FAU Pre-Christmas Tournament

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M (1-7, 0-0 SWAC) women's basketball heads to Boca Raton, Florida to take on a pair of Conference USA opponents at the FAU Pre-Christmas Tournament from December 19-20. They will open against Southern Mississippi (7-2, 0-0 C-USA) on Sunday, December 19 and host Florida Atlantic (4-5, 0-0 C-USA) with both games set for 2:30 p.m. EST.

The Bulldogs head to the Sunshine State following a 69-55 loss at Missouri (12/12) that saw them pull to within seven points in the fourth quarter and a 72-47 victory at Samford (12/9) days before.

USM comes in riding a four-game win streak that includes decisions over Mississippi Valley State (72-53 on 11/27), Georgia State (64-56 on 12/1), South Alabama (71-51 on 12/5) and Blue Mountain (75-50 on 12/13). Meanwhile, Florida Atlantic is coming off of a 71-63 victory over Florida Memorial (12/7) and will face Richmond on the opening day of the tournament.

It will be the first meeting against each team in program history, but not for lack of trying as A&M and Southern Miss were slated to play to begin the 2020-21 campaign. That game was part of the USM Thanksgiving Classic and was cancelled as a result of COVID-19.

Fans will be able to follow all of the action with live stats and live video for the game, with the latter airing behind a paywall on FAUSPORTS.TV, and find additional info on the FAU Pre-Christmas Tournament Page. Full coverage of all the action will also be available on www.AAMUSports.com, the official online home of Alabama A&M Athletics, following the final horn of each game.
