Spring 2021 Season in Review
  • Notched four shutouts, including program record three straight from March 19-28. Was most shutouts in a season since the 2007 team produced seven – that in a full season as opposed to one of half that length.
  • Those three straight blankings were all by 1-0 scores over Alcorn State (3/19) at home and Texas Southern (3/26) and Prairie View A&M (3/28).
  • Surrendered only seven goals in eight games and no more than two in a game. Two of the latter came in 2-1 overtime losses to Grambling (3/5), who finished with the nation's second leading scorer, and on the road against eventual SWAC Champion Alabama State (4/2)
  • Delivered 377 scoreless minute streak beginning with the final 42:56 at Jackson State (3/12) and going through first 64:15 of 2-1 decision at ASU 21 days later.
  • Led the SWAC in goals against average (.863), save percentage (.848) and shutout percentage (.500)

Individual Achievements/Honors
  • Makayla Rushing earned All-SWAC First-Team honors and was joined by Jodi Medina and Khadijah Shakirof on the Second-Team. Those three total selections were as many as the team had had combined in the previous five years and equaled the totals from the 2007, 2010 and 2013 teams. In addition to the most honorees in eight seasons, it also equaled the most since the 2006 team produced seven selections.
  • Rushing's First-Team selection was the first for the program since Ana Huertas in 2013 while Medina became just the second keeper named to an All-Conference team and first since Priscilla Mensah in 2006.
  • Shakirof, Rushing and Medina swept SWAC weekly awards on March 12 with Medina repeating on March 31. The total of four awards in a single season were the most since six such honorees during the 2014 campaign.
  • Medina notched four shutouts and allowed just seven goals in eight games to lead the SWAC in goals against average (.863), save percentage (.848) and shutouts (4).
  • Shakirof played every minute and anchored a defense that posted those four shutouts as part of five games with one or fewer goals allowed.
  • Barrett led the offense with three goals and an assist for seven points while Rushing and Braejah Washington each had a pair. Gabby Cumby rounded out the scoring with a lone goal and Ayanna Gooden notched an assist.
  • Rushing fired off 31 shots to lead the SWAC and finished No. 24 in the nation.
