Trip To Mississippi Valley State Next On Docket For Alabama A&M Women's Basketball

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M (3-8, 1-0 SWAC) women's basketball is right back on the court as they head to Mississippi Valley State (1-8, 0-1 SWAC) on Wednesday, January 5. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. in Itta Bena, Mississippi.

The Bulldogs opened Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play with a come-from-behind 58-48 victory at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1/3), scoring the final 12 points for the win, while MVSU was not as fortunate in their opener.

Scheduled to take on Alabama State last evening, it would be a game that would not be played due to COVID-19 protocols. That resulted in a league forfeit with their last on-court action being an upset 73-72 overtime victory at Louisiana-Monroe (12/20), their first of the season.

A&M holds a 21-11 advantage in the all-time series based upon available records dating back to a 58-41 victory on January 6, 2007 in Mississippi. It would be the first of four straight wins, a mark which is equal to the longest in the series by MVSU from February 2, 2013 through February 10, 2014. Since that time the Bulldogs have won 12 of the last 14, including eight in a row since January 8, 2018 with the most recent being an 81-43 decision for the largest margin of victory in series history.

Fans will be able to follow all of the action with live video for the game but live stats will not be made available by MVSU. Full postgame coverage of all the action will also be available on www.AAMUSports.com, the official online home of Alabama A&M Athletics, following the final horn.
