HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M women's volleyball (4-18, 3-4 SWAC) steps out of league play one last time as they take on Chattanooga (10-12, 5-3 SoCon) for the first time in a decade on Sunday, October 16. First serve is set for 2 p.m. Central Standard Time in Chattanooga, Tennessee at MaClellan Gym.
The Bulldogs come into the match having gone 1-2 at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Round Up this past weekend, defeating Prairie View (3-0 on 10/9) and falling 3-2 to both Grambling (10/9) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (10/10). UTC enters riding a three-match win streak with victories at UNC Greensboro (3-1 on 10/8) and East Tennessee State (3-2 on 10/12) and a 3-1 home decision over The Citadel (10/14).
Despite being just over two hours apart, the teams have
met just five times in the 21-year series history, one which the Mocs lead 5-0. UTC won the first two by 3-0 decisions in Chattanooga on October 2, 2001 and September 5, 2008 before A&M fell 3-1 in Birmingham, Alabama on September 19, 2008. Since then the teams have played just two times in the past 11 years, that being a 3-0 outing in Huntsville on September 20, 2011 and 3-1 final on September 4, 2012 back in Chattanooga.
