HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M (5-21, 4-6 SWAC) took care of business in their second-to-last home match as they posted a 29
th straight victory over Mississippi Valley State (1-18, 0-10 SWAC), earning their 20
th 3-0 sweep by scores of 25-20, 25-13 and 25-14 in an NCAA Division I women's volleyball match on Monday, October 24.
In a series that sees a 30-4 spread all-time, the teams would be separated by just one point, 13-12, midway through the first set. From there though the Bulldogs would methodically build that lead out to 24-18 behind an 11-6 stretch before closing out a 25-20 victory.
The clubs would alternate the first 10 points of Game 2 to deadlock at 5-5 before MVSU's Chardea Berthelot notched a kill for the lead. It would be their last as A&M cruised to a 25-13 win with a massive 20-7 run that put them up 2-0.
Alabama A&M would build upon that momentum in the third set as they powered out to a commanding 19-9 advantage. The Devilettes would finally snap that surge with four straight points to cut it to a six-point deficit but that would be it as the Bulldogs took six of the next nine points to close out the sweep with a 25-14 decision.
Freshman outside hitters
Caitlin Shaw (Desoto, Texas) and
Bailey Duckett (Huntsville, Ala.) led the A&M offense, delivering eight kills and six kills, five service aces and four digs, respectively. Freshman middle blocker
