Alabama A&M Women's Basketball Hits The Road To Take On Southern In Battle For Second Place

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M (8-11, 6-3 SWAC) women's basketball travels to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for a battle for second place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) as they take on Southern (9-11, 7-2 SWAC) on Saturday, February 5. Game time is set for 3 p.m.

A&M heads to the Bayou riding a four-game win streak that has put them in a tie for third place, directly behind the Jaguars. Most recently they swept a Texas swing and dropped Florida A&M (1/24) by a 68-57 score and Bethune-Cookman (1/31) 58-38, both at Elmore Gymnasium. SU, meanwhile, comes in having won seven of their last nine but fell 66-58 at league-leading Jackson State (1/31) last time out.

The teams will be meeting for the 33rd time since the 2005-06 season, with the Jaguars holding a commanding 25-8 margin in that time. The Bulldogs are 2-14 in Baton Rouge but won their last season by a 78-76 margin on February 24, 2021. That began a two-game win streak that snapped a 14-game losing streak to Southern.

Fans will be able to follow all of the action with live stats and live video along with full postgame coverage of all the action available on www.AAMUSports.com, the official online home of Alabama A&M Athletics, following the final horn.
