HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M (2-9, 2-2 SWAC) dropped a 4-3 score against North Alabama (2-12, 0-2 ASUN) in an NCAA Division I men's tennis match on Monday, March 28.
 
The Lions took the early lead in doubles as freshman Divesh Gahlot (Haryana, India) and junior Cheng Chang (Koahsiung, Taiwan) fell 6-3 against Nazar Fedoryshyn and Fernando Perez at No. 2 before freshman Vence Ntcha and senior Rodrigo Arana Rios (Playa Del Carmen, Mexico) were defeated by Guilherme Diniz and Jamie Bixby 6-3 at No. 1.
 
After the doubles portion, the Lions made their mark in singles as Perez defeated Ntcha 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 before Arana Rios won one set, 6-2 before dropping the final sets 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 and Gahlot fell to Diniz 7-6, 6-2 at No. 4. Sophomore Natiphat Mulada (Korat, Thailand) defeated Fedoryshyn 7-5, 7-5 at No.3 and freshman Freddie Lawrence delivered a 7-6, 6-2 decision against Sam Tolbert.
 
Matis Torres Ramis fell in the first set 6-3 before rallying to win the next two 6-3, 6-3 against Bixby at No. 5.
 
Alabama A&M will return to the court on Saturday, April 2 as they take on Jackson State with first serve set for 2 p.m. at Tennis Huntsville Center.
