TROY, Ala. – Alabama A&M (2-10, 2-2 SWAC) fell by a 7-0 score at Troy (13-9, 0-0 SBC) in an NCAA Division I men's tennis match on Thursday, March 31.
The Trojans took the early lead in doubles as
Freddie Lawrence and junior
German Ruiz Crespo (Mollina, Spain) fell 6-1 against Carles Anton and Vito Llinares at No. 3 while freshmen
Divesh Gahlot (Haryana, India) and
Vence Ntcha were defeated 6-3 by Pelayo Antuna and Noah Martens at No. 2.
After the doubles portion, Troy wasted no time during singles as Lawrence fell 6-0, 6-1 to Christopher Tasker at No. 6 and junior
Rodrigo Arana Rios (Playa Del Carmen, Mexico) was defeated 6-1, 6-0 by Martens at No. 2. Matis Torres Ramis fell 6-1, 6-2 against Llinares at No. 5 while Gahlot was defeated 6-3, 7-5 by Manuel Bernard at No. 4.
The Bulldogs most impressive performance came from sophomore
Natiphat Mulada (korat, Thailand) who defeated Nicolas Simkin 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3. Rounding out the day for AAMU was Ntcha who fell 7-5, 6-2 to close out the 7-0 decision.
Alabama A&M will return to the court on Saturday, April 2 as they face off against Jackson State. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at Huntsville Tennis Center.
