HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – In one of their toughest matches of the season, Alabama A&M women's volleyball (0-6, 0-0 SWAC) continues their non-conference slate as they travel to Power 5 foe Auburn (4-0, 0-0 SEC) for the first time in more than a decade at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5.
A&M is coming off of three losses at the Skyhawk Invitational, falling 3-0 to UT-Martin (9/2), Arkansas State (9/2) and Western Illinois (9/3) while the Tigers continue their tour of the state following a 3-0 blanking of Alabama State (8/31) before taking on UAB and Troy later this week.
Auburn
holds a 6-0 all-time mark in the series dating back to a pair of matches in 1986 when the Bulldogs were competing at the NCAA Division II level. Those were both 2-0 decisions on October 17 in Huntsville and a week later in Tuskegee, Alabama.
The series resumed after nearly 20 years as the Tigers notched a 3-1 decision on September 17, 2005 and continued with back-to-back 3-0 victories on consecutive days (August 28-29) in 2009. Their most recent meeting came on August 30, 2011 when the Tigers delivered another sweep in Auburn, site of all four DI matchups.
