HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Alabama A&M women's soccer team returned home for a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game on Friday afternoon but dropped a tough 2-1 decision to Southern at the Bulldog Soccer Field.

Southern (5-4-1 overall, 3-0 SWAC), which was outshot 11-5 in the opening half, struck first as Kyra Reeves found the back of the net, off an assist by Gia Johnson, as the Jaguars took a 1-0 advantage in the sixth minute.

The scoreline would remain 1-0 until the 20
th minute when
Unique Ward collected a rebound and fired the shot into the back of the net for the equalizer.

However, the Bulldogs (0-12, 0-3) could not hold on as the Jaguars broke the 1-1 tie in the 84
th minute with a goal by Johnson, giving Southern the 2-1 advantage.
