JACKSON, Miss. – The Alabama A&M women's tennis team has earned their second win in as many days after a 5-0 win over Grambling State on Saturday morning for Southwestern Athletic Conference action.
The Bulldogs started by winning the doubles point, as the pairing of
Jasmine Boyd (Marion, Ind.) and
Yana Dhamija (Gurugram, India) defeated Jelani Jones and Lungile Ntuli 6-2, followed by
Deja Brown (Spring Valley, Calif.) and
Camila Ruiz Diaz (Asuncion, Paraguay) won in their pairing over Jovana Latinovich Claire Machisa by a score of 6-3.
At the end of the first two spots,
Neha Ghare (Pune, India) and
Alicia Owegi (Nairobi, Kenya) led 6-5 at the finish of doubles play.
Meanwhile, Owegi took the first win in singles play at No. 6 over Latinovich in straight sets, before Ghare took down Ntuli at the No. 4 flight by scores of 6-3, 6-3. Boyd picked up an individual win at No. 1, also in straight sets (6-2, 6-1), while Dhamija finished the match (6-1, 6-1) to secure the Bulldog win.
