LORMAN, Miss. – Alabama A&M finished their weekend series against Alcorn State on Sunday with a 13-3 win inside McGowan Stadium, completing the three-game sweep of the series to open the season.

The Braves jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first two innings, holding A&M scoreless for three frames before
Chandler Stocking (Midway, Utah) drove in
Miles Jackson (Atlanta, Ga.) in the fourth.

The Bulldogs added to their run total in the fifth as
Chevalier Dorris (Raymond, Miss.) singled to start the inning and later scored on a groundout from
Jared Tribett (Lumberton, Miss.) to pull the score to 3-2. They tied the game in the next inning as
Mekhi Lloyd (Decatur, Ga.) singled to center field to drive in
Jalen Ford (Birmingham, Ala.).

From there, A&M pulled away, adding three more runs in the seventh and six in the eighth behind a three-run homer from
CJ Mervilus (Brooklyn, N.Y.), along with another pair of scores in the ninth to finish the sweep with the 13-3 win.

Tommy Easley (Acworth, Ga.) was the lone Bulldog with multiple hits in the contest, going 2-for-5 and scoring two runs, while Mervilus totaled a game-high three RBI along with scoring a run in the win.

Noah Whitted (Silsbee, Texas) started the game for A&M, working 5.0 innings and allowing three runs on six hits, while striking out five batters. Meanwhile,
Dylan Gordon (Mandeville, La.) picked up the win in relief, allowing just one hit in two innings pitched, followed by
Jason Garcia (Miami, Fla.) and
Dustin Hernandez (Rayne, La.) who both pitched an inning out of the bullpen.

Alabama A&M will return to play on Tuesday and Wednesday for midweek non-conference action against SEC opponent Tennessee. The two programs will play a pair of games during the week inside of Lindsey Nelson Stadium, with both games scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
