NATCHITOCHES, La. __ Â In the third and final game of the weekend series, Alabama A&M (7-8) dropped a 8-5 game to Northwestern State on Sunday afternoon inside of Brown-Stroud Field.

An early two-out rally from Northwestern State gave the Demons an early 2-0 lead, after an RBI single drove in a pair of runs in the first inning.
Miles Jackson got on base on an error for the Bulldogs to lead off the second to give them their first base runner and later scored on an RBI single from
Blake Martin for the first run for A&M.
Â
The Demons added another run in the bottom half of the frame after drawing a walk with the bases loaded, before another two scores in the third and one in the fourth to go up 6-1.

The Bulldogs found their offense again in the sixth with a pair of runs. After a single from
Mekhi Lloyd,
Chandler Stocking tripled to right center, driving in Lloyd, and scored on the next at-bat on a groundout from
Tommy Easley.

Northwestern State responded with their own run in the bottom half of the frame on an RBI single to keep a 7-3 edge. A sacrifice fly in the eighth gave the Demons their final run of the game.
A&M began to rally in the top of the ninth, starting with a single from Easley. After advancing on a ground out and wild pitch, Easley scored on an RBI double from Kyle Duncan. Duncan scored on the next at-bat on an RBI double from
Jalen Parker, however the comeback fell short as the Bulldogs fell 8-5.

Easley and Lloyd led the way for A&M at the plate, earning two hits each, while five different runners scored in the contest.

Anthony Mateo earned the start on the mound on Sunday, working 2.1 innings and allowing five runs on three hits.
Noah Whitted pitched for three and two-thirds of work, allowing a pair of runs, while
Jason Marono and
Dimitri Stamataplous combined to pitch the final two innings of play.

Alabama A&M will begin SWAC play next weekend on the road with a series against Jackson State. The three-day series is set to begin on Friday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. at Braddy Field.
