LORMAN, Miss. ^__ Alabama A&M defeated conference opponent Alcorn State in its final regular season match of the 2023 season by a 4-0 final score on Monday.
 
Neha Ghare and Alicia Owegi got the day started for Alabama A&M by defeating Jaime Edwards and Aizat Zholdakayeva by a 6-1 score. Jasmine Boyd and Yana Dhamija won their pairing by default on court three, while Camila Ruiz Diaz and Ariadna Ondo Cerezo were trailing 3-2 when the match was suspended.
 
The Bulldogs started off singles play hot with straight set wins in all three of their wins. Ghare finished first with a strong 6-3, 6-2 victory over Edwards, on court four, followed by Owegi with a win on court six. Boyd was the final point for A&M in the win, as she swept Zholdakeyeva 6-0, 6-0.
 
Alabama A&M will now head to New Orleans this weekend to take place in the SWAC Tennis Championships. Tournament play will start on Friday, April 21 and run through Sunday, April 23.
