Softball Drops Game Two of Road Series Against Alabama State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama A&M softball had chances on Saturday but struggled offensively as Alabama State evened the series with a 4-1 win at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
 
The Bulldogs (21-15) scattered six hits in Saturday's contest. Serena Herbranson turned in the lone multi-hit game of the afternoon with a 2-for-3 outing and scored a run. Venice Sanders drove in the lone run with a double in the third. 
 
After A&M left two runners on with a two-out strikeout to end the top of the first, the Hornets got on the board in the bottom half of the inning, scoring on a throwing error.
 
The Bulldogs tied the game in the top of the third, as Herbranson doubled with two outs, followed by an RBI single on an 0-2 count to right field from Sanders.
 
Alabama State pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. Jaeda Gardner doubled on a 2-1 count to scoring a pair of runs, before Alana Scott drove in the third run after reaching on a fielder's choice.
 
Sydney Hall (5-6) started in the circle for Alabama A&M, working three innings, allowing four runs on two hits with one strikeout. Scott worked three innings out of the bullpen and allowed five hits, struck out four batters, and forced four fly balls. Herbranson led Alabama A&M at the plate, going 2-for-3 and scoring a run, while four other batters combined for the team's six hits on the day.
 
Bailey Greenlee took the win for the Hornets, allowing four hits and one run over five innings, striking out nine, while Olivia Brown threw two innings in relief.
 
The rivalry series will be concluded on Sunday afternoon, with the first pitch set for 1 p.m.
