Huntsville, AL - The Black College Football Hall of Fame (BCFHOF) announced the 2023 Watch List for the Black College Football Player of the Year Award on Tuesday, which includes Alabama A&M's Running back Donovan Eaglin.

The Houston native Eaglin was honored with All-SWAC Preseason First Team Offense for his impressive performance. As a redshirt sophomore in 2022, he recorded 897 rushing yards, 6 touchdowns, and an average of 5 yards per carry. He also had 73 receiving yards and caught a touchdown.The Award is given each year to the top football player from a Historically Black College & University. Aqeel Glass, former Alabama A&M QB, won it in both the Spring and Fall 2021 seasons.

During the halftime of the 2024 Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl, the winner of the Black College Football Player of the Year Award will be presented with the Deacon Jones Trophy. The game will take place on February 24, 2024, in New Orleans, Louisiana and will be broadcasted live on NFL Network. Four finalists will be announced after the season.

The candidates for the Watch List have been chosen based on their past performance and future potential. The Selection Committee will select the finalists and the winner as the 2023 season progresses.
