Alabama A&M responded by using a 9-2 run, capped by a pair of free throws by Simmons as the Bulldogs closed the gap to 24-22 with five seconds remaining in the half. However, Jackson was fouled with three tenths of a second left and sank a pair sending the Tigers into the break with a 26-22 advantage.

Jacskson State opened the second half on an 8-0 run, capped by a Ti'Lan Boler layup, to extend the lead to 32-22 with just over seven minutes remaining in the third.
