Soccer Faces First Conference Road Swing

THE HILL | After going 1-1 in their first pair of conference games, the Alabama A&M soccer team (3-8, 1-1 SWAC) will hit the road to face Jackson State University (0-6-1) on Friday and Southern University (1-8, 0-0 SWAC) on Sunday.  
 

The Bulldogs opened conference play at home where they fell 1-0 to Grambling State but emerged victorious in a 2-0 bout against the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. In her first start of the season, sophomore goalkeeper Yesenia Aiken saved two UAPB balls to solidify the match's blank sheet. Freshman Czaske Deane scored the first goal of the match in the 14th minute, assisted by senior Jasmine Perez-Acosta. Junior Chelsie Charles scored the final goal of the match in the 57th minute.  
 

The Tigers open their own conference slate with their first victory of the season via a pair of home matches against both AAMU and Alabama State. Jackson State most recently fell 1-0 to the Kennesaw State Owls. Senior Kendyl Terrell notched three shots on goal during the match, and goalkeeper Rebecca Jamieson saved 7 balls on the night. JSU leads in the overall match series with the Bulldogs. Kickoff of Fridays match is set for 3pm (CT) and can be live streamed here.  
 

The Jaguars are set to start their conference slate with an Alabama swing as well, hosting Alabama State on Friday, and the Bulldogs on Sunday. SU is returning from a 1-0 loss to Sam Houston, where the Jags recorded one on-target shot, courtesy of Zemira Webb. Goalkeeper Sydney Bellamy saved 11 balls during the match. The Maroon and White lead the all-time series with the Jaguars 14-7, though the last match up resulted in a 2-1 Southern victory. Kickoff for Sunday's match is set for 6pm and can be live streamed here.
