JACKSON, Miss. | Sophomore goalkeeper Liliana Ribeiro saved all seven of Jackson State's (0-6-2, 0-0-1 SWAC) on target shots to solidify the scoreless draw in Alabama A&M's soccer teams (3-8-1, 1-1-1 SWAC) first Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) road match.
AAMU tallied seven shots, including four on target. Sophomore goalkeeper Liliana Ribeiro saved all seven of JSU's on target shots for her second blank sheet of the season. Kendyl Terrell paced the Tigers, notching four shots on goal.
Jackson State started the match with high intensity, taking three shots, two on target, within the first six minutes. Sophomore Meghane St-Cyr got a good look at the bottom center of the goal in the 18th minute but would be saved by JSU keeper Rebecca Jamieson. JSU tallied another shot on goal before Czaske Deane sent the ball to the bottom center of the net where Jamieson grabbed it in the 33rd minute. Just three minutes later, graduate transfer Sarah De Gannes took her second shot of the night but would not be able to convert. AAMU got another good look at the goal, courtesy of Albany Rios, but both teams entered halftime with no goal.
The second half took a much slower pace, with JSU tallying just two on target shots in the first 30 minutes. The Tigers found the back of the net in the 89th minute from Terrell, but it was called back after she made contact with Ribeiro in the box. The match ended in a scoreless draw.
The Bulldogs take to the pitch again on Sunday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana against Southern University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
