BATON ROUGE, La. | Freshman Czaske Deane was the lone Maroon and White scorer in the Alabama A&M soccer team's (3-9-1), 1-1SWAC) 2-1 loss to Southern University (2-9, 1-0 SWAC) on Sunday afternoon.  

Though both teams were even with on target shots, the Jaguars were able to find the back of the net twice within the first half to solidify the match.  

The Bulldogs opened the match with three on-target shots before Deane found the back of the net in the 17th minute, unassisted. AAMU controlled the match for just over 20 minutes before Iyanla Bailey-Williams leveled the match in the 39th minute. The Jaguars went into halftime with the lead after Journee Mitchell found Giftee Tor who sent the ball into the net in the 44th minute. 

The second half took a slower pace, as the Bulldogs held the Jaguars to only two shots on goal. In a final attempt to square the match, Jasmine Perez-Acosta sent the ball towards the bottom right of the box one final time in the 89th minute, but SU goalkeeper Sydney Bellamy nabbed it to claim the win.  

The Bulldogs will return to The Hill on Sunday for Senior Day at the Bulldog Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 1 pm.
