Jasmine Perez-Acosta scored two goals in the final regular season match against Alabama State University to secure the 2-1 Bulldog victory.
The Bulldogs finish the regular season 6-10-1 and 4-3-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play. Friday night's win clinched the fourth seed for the Maroon and White, and AAMU will face Jackson State in the quarterfinals of the 2024 SWAC Soccer Tournament, the conference announced Friday night. Tournament play will start Friday, November 7 at the PVAMU Soccer Complex in Prairie View, Texas, with the Bulldogs set to play at 1 p.m.
Texas Southern (6-1-1 SWAC) enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed after claiming the regular season title on Friday night.Grambling State claimed the No. 2 seed (6-2 SWAC), while Southern claimed the No. 3 seed (5-1-2 SWAC). Jackson State (2-2-4 SWAC) enters the tournament as the No. 5 seed while Alabama State claimed the No. 6 seed (2-3-3 SWAC). Mississippi Valley State enters the tournament as the No. 7 seed (1-3-4 SWAC) followed by No. 8 seed Prairie View A&M (0-4-4 SWAC).
In the event of a tie in conference records the league's tiebreaker policy was used to determine final seedings.
The tournament will be played in a single-elimination format and all tournament games will be available live on the
SWAC Digital Network.
