Aaron Smith notched career highs as the Alabama A&M University men's basketball team reached triple digits for the third straight game with a 103-69 victory over Fisk on Wednesday night at the AAMU Event Center.
Alabama A&M, which opened the season by scoring more than 100 points against Oakwood and Arkansas Baptist, led 56-31 at the break against Fisk and cruised in the second half to improve to 3-0 to begin the season.
Riley scored 11 of his career-best 17 points in the first half, while adding two rebounds and two assists.
Chad Moodie recorded his first double-double of the season, with 12 points and 11 boards, with five assists, four blocks and one steal.
Aaron Smith poured in a career-high 12 points, three boards and one steal, while
AC Bryant also added 12 points, seven boards and three assists. Kuir tossed in a career-high 10 points, three boards and one steal.
Doyel Cockrill led Fisk (2-3) with a game-high 22 points, one block and one steal. Soloman Mustafa-Reid added 13 points, eight boards, two blocks, one assist and one steal, while Justin McNelkan recorded 12 points and two boards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a slow start by both teams, Saliou Seye gave the Maroon and White an 8-2 lead after a 3-pointer and fastbreak dunk with just under 17 minutes to play in the opening half
- A trey by Doyel Cockrill II and jumper by Soloman Mustafa-Reid trimmed the margin to just one, 8-7, with 16:16 remaining
- AAMU responded with a 14-0 run, capped by an AC Bryant jumper, in pushing the lead to 22-7 with 12:31 left
- Layups by Moodie and Bilal Abdur-Rahman stretched Alabama A&M's lead to 36-14 with 7:29 remaining
- A Moodie dunk extending the AAMU advantage to 41-18 with 5:46 left
- Alabama A&M continued to stretch the margin, pushing the lead to 56-31 at the break
- A thunderous dunk by Moodie, followed by a triple by Riley extended Alabama A&M's lead to 72-45 with just over 12 minutes to play
- AAMU got a layup by EJay Greer with 7:55 remaining as AAMU pushed the margin to 86-57 with 7:55 remaining
- Fisk could not rally down the stretch as Alabama A&M won its third straight game by triple digits
