Cornelious Brown IV and defensive back
Kaleb Dawson earned Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) weekly football honors, the conference announced on Monday.
Brown, the SWAC's Co-Offensive Player of the Week and an HBCU+ National Player of the Week honorable mention selection, went 19 of 28 passing for 252 yards, with five touchdowns and one interception in a road win over Mississippi Valley State. He threw two touchdown passes in the opening half of 29 and 14 yards, and followed that with scores of 35, 9 and 13 yards in the third quarter.
Dawson, the SWAC's Defensive Player of the Week, garnered five total tackles, with two solo stops and one tackle for loss. In addition, he had two interceptions, the first setting up Alabama A&M's first score of the day in the 49-35 win at Mississippi Valley State.
Florida A&M's Thad Franklin Jr. was selected the SWAC's Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while Alabama State's Brandon Gilliam was named the specialist of the week. Bethune-Cookman's Dennis Palmer and Texas Southern's Quintell Quinn was tabbed the co-newcomers of the week.
Alabama A&M closes out the season on Friday at Florida A&M. Kickoff against the Rattlers is set for 3 p.m. (central) from Bragg Memorial Stadium and streamed on ESPN+.
