PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas. | The Alabama A&M University women's soccer team (6-10-1, 4-3-1) begins postseason play on Thursday with a quarterfinal match against Jackson State in the 2024 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Soccer Tournament, hosted by Prairie View A&M University.
Thursday's match will be played at the PVAMU Soccer Complex, with kickoff set for 1 p.m., and will be streamed on the SWAC Digital Network.
The Bulldogs enter the tournament as the fourth seed after the 2-1 victory over in-state rival Alabama State. Alabama A&M returns to the SWAC Tournament after falling 3-0 to Grambling State in the quarterfinal round last season.
Thw Maroon and White is led by midfielder Jasmine Perez-Acosta who has registered a team-high six goals and three assists. Freshman Czaske Deane and junior Chelsie Charles also help pace AAMU, each with four goals and an assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Liliana Ribeiro has saved 85 goals this season with three shutouts, including two against conference opponents.
Fifth seeded Jackson State is led by graduate student Kendyl Terrell, who has logged four goals and four assists this season. JSU goalkeeper Jordan Hamilton has saved 25 goals and recorded two shutouts, while Rebecca Jamieson has saved 19 balls and posted three clean sheets. The Bulldogs and Tigers met earlier this season, where the match ended in a scoreless tie. The Tigers lead 14-8-3 in the overall series.
The winner of Thursday's match will advance to meet the winner of Texas Southern/Prairie View A&M on Friday. Semifinals matches are slated to begin at 3 p.m. and will be streamed on the SWAC Digital Network.
