HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University football program had 11 student-athletes selected to the Phil Steele Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) postseason football teams.
Offensive lineman
Carson Vinson, who was selected the Phil Steele 2024 SWAC Offensive Lineman of the Year, and running back
Donovan Eaglin were selected to the first team. Offensive lineman
Tyrell Lawrence, wide receiver
Keenan Hambrick, linebacker
Cortez Andrews and kicker
Victor Barbosa was named to the second team. Wide receiver
DeQuadrion Welch, defensive lineman
Dorian Wesley, defensive backs
Delvon Gulley and
Kaleb Dawson earned third-team honors, while punter
Austin McCready was named to the fourth team.
Vinson, who is one of 10 finalists for the Urban Edge Network's HBCU+ National Player of the Year Award and the first HBCU player invited the 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl, started in all 48 games for the Bulldogs. The Morrisville, N.C. native has helped the Bulldog offense rank tops in the SWAC in total offense (444.5 yards per game) and passing offense (260.5 yards per game). In addition, the Bulldogs are third in the conference in rushing offense at 184.0 yards per game. He has an 89 percent overall offensive line grade with 61 total knockdowns and allowed just one sack, which was against SEC opponent Auburn in the season opener.
Eaglin earned his second career SWAC postseason honor after rushing for nearly 1,000 yards in 12 games. The Houston, Texas native rushed for 967 yards on 181 attempts, averaging 5.3 yards per carry and 80.5 yards per game. In addition, he found the endzone 10 times, nine of those on the ground. He ranked among the Top 10 in the conference in numerous categories, including rushing yards (second), rushing yards per game (second), total touchdowns (second), rushing touchdowns (third), all-purpose yards (fifth), rush yards per carry (sixth) and scoring (ninth).
Lawrence helped the Bulldog offense rank tops in the SWAC in total offense (444.5 yards per game) and passing offense (260.5 yards per game).
Hambrick led the talented receiving corps for Alabama A&M this season with 774 yards on 52 receptions. He scored five touchdowns, while averaging 14.8 yards per catch and 64.5 yards per game. The Athens, Ala. native ranked third in the conference in receiving yards, receptions per game and receiving yards per game, while fourth in receiving touchdowns and seventh in yards per receptions.
Andrews led the team in tackles, recording 81 in 11 games for the Bulldogs. He had 34 solo stops, with 13.0 tackles for loss. In addition, the Tallahassee, Fla. native registered a team-best 4.5 sacks, along with four quarterback hurries, three pass breakups, one blocked kick and one interception. He ranked sixth in the conference in tackles for loss, 11
thin sacks and 11
th in total tackles.
Barbosa was a perfect 11-of-11 in field goals, despite missing the first four games due to injury. He was 2-of-2 in field goals between 40-to-49 yards and had a season-long of 45 yards in a Thursday night win over Grambling State.
Welch finished second on the team in receptions (23) and yards (337). He averaged 14.65 yards per catch and 37.44 yards per game. The Macon, Miss. native also caught three touchdowns.
Wesley, who played in all 12 games this season for the Bulldogs, was seventh on the team in total tackles, registering 32, with 11 solo stops. The Flat Rock, Mich. native had 5.0 tackles for loss, with two sacks, along with four quarterback hurries.
Gulley appeared in 11 games for AAMU and finished ninth in total tackles (29), with 19 solo stops. He had a half of a tackle for a loss of 1 yard. The Saraland, Ala. native added four pass breakups and tied a team-high in interceptions with three. In addition, Gulley ranked seventh in the conference in interceptions per game.
Dawson, who earned the SWAC's Defensive Player of the Week after his performance at Mississippi Valley State, was third on the team in total tackles, with 60, including 29 solo stops. He added 3.5 tackles for loss. In the addition, the Moultrie, Ga. native finished with three pass breakups and three interceptions.
McCready served many roles throughout the season. The New Orleans, La. native was the primary punter, with 41 kicks for 1,758 yards, averaging 42.8 yards per punt. He had six games where the long was 50 or more yards, including a season-best 57-yard punt at Austin Peay. He went 3-of-6 in field goal attempts, including a career-high 48 yarder also at Austin Peay. McCready also went a perfect 2-for-2 in pass attempts when the Bulldogs pulled off fake punts against Jackson State and Florida A&M.
